Ethnic Chic
I am not a smart shopper. Honestly. I don't have the basic wardrobe, that I can just mix and match and look pulled together. I really, really hate boring things. I don't have time to wear basic. Don't get me wrong, I have so much respect for ladies out there who look amazing in jeans a grey cashmere sweaters. I just think I look too plain and I need to accessories to make the outfit pop.
I am also a pretty lazy shopper. Here is a big reveal: I don't like spending too much time in stores. My attention span when it comes to shopping is no more than 20 minutes. Then, I get bored and just want to leave. So finding something super fast that I don't need to think about too much is crucial. That's why I have more dresses in my closet than anything. It is so easy to just throw a dress on and look chic without thinking whether the top matches the bottom. Even better if you don't need to add any accessories. Ethnic dresses are the best to get because they are already so embellished either with beads or bright prints. You get the matching top, bottom and accessories for the price of one item. Sold!
I got this dress at Zara during their winter sale right before I went to Cali. The weather was amazing, and I got a chance to rock these sheer sleeves while everyone else was still wearing Canada Goose jackets in Chicago. Let me tell you, I have a slight obsession with ethnic clothes because since I was in kindergarden I wore traditional Ukrainian embroidered tops and beautiful red skirts, red leather boots and a flower crown for all the little singing and dancing performances I did all the way through middle school. All of a sudden years later the designers pick up the trend and now it's almost a must in the closet of every fashionista. I love ethnic clothes because they are usually very flowy and comfortable, yet very sophisticated, and definitely the attention magnets.
The only downside to dresses like this is that I can't really wear them too much. It is a dress-y dress. You know? There is now way to tone it down. I end up buying all these cool pieces that stand out and end up wearing them a couple of times. This is my new task: to find the clothes I love but also to be able to wear them not only for the blog photoshoots. Let's see how many times I will take this dress out.
