A Recipe to Recharge
Sometimes you just need to get away. Don't wait any longer. You know when the moment has come. Shut off your phone, don't check your email, turn off your mind. Look up where you can go and take a few days off. Go have a date with nature. Bring a bottle of wine and your favorite candy. Do what you've been meaning to do for a long time. Finish the book you've been reading for the past few moths. Don't think about tomorrow. Look at the sky. Smell the salty ocean air. Breathe.
We've all been there. The territory of the burn out. You get whirpooled into the sea of stress deeper and deeper the harder you try to get out. Your thoughts are scattered and seem to be chasing one another. This is the peak when you can't stress out any longer and there is only one way - change your surroundings. It might seem that you should deal with your issues right here, right now, but it is actually way better to clear your head and let your mind get distracted. Take a moment to recharge. The solution will come when you least expect it.
If you have time and spare money - take a trip. Go somewhere quiet, book a hotel or an airbnb and make this getaway about you. If you don't want to go far, still get away from your house for a day or two. Go to the suburbs or rent a room in a quiet neighborhood. It is really important to stay close to nature - a lake, a river, a park, ideally mountains or the ocean. Take a walk outside and take in all the vitamin D. Don't even think about making a to do list during your vacation. Sleep in, take a long hot shower, put on a comfortable bathrobe, order room service or delivery, watch a new show on Netflix, take a nap in a chair, use a face mask, flip through magazines. Your only task is to not think about yesterday or tomorrow. Concentrate on today. Take this day step by step. Once you are done with one simple task move onto another. Turn off the guilt switch. Everything and everyone can wait. Be selfish for a change. If you don't have any energy you will not be able to effectively deal with the issues you are facing. It is better for you and the people involved to let you have your moment of relaxation.
When you charge electronic devices you leave them alone till they are ready to work again. This is your time to recharge and be left alone. Plug in, meditate, think of what you are thankful for right now and treat yourself to everything that makes you happy. You will be surprised to learn how vital it is to take time off and do absolutely nothing.
